Live resin wax, crumble, shatter and badder: concentrate textures

Updated October 2, 2026

Live resin wax is a live resin concentrate that has been whipped or stirred into a soft, opaque, waxy texture. Live resin is extracted with a solvent from fresh frozen plant material, and the texture word on the jar (wax, crumble, shatter, badder, sugar or sauce) describes how the finished extract looks and handles, not a different source plant.

This page is a glossary. It explains what each texture word usually means so you can read a concentrate label. Freezo's Concentrates collection lists live rosin, a solventless, fresh frozen extract, and none of the listings use these texture words. Most are in a 2g size. The jars are in the Live Rosin collection.

Why concentrates come in textures

Two words on a concentrate label do different jobs. The first names the extraction: live resin is made with a solvent, and live rosin is made without one. Both start from fresh frozen plant material. The second word names the texture: how the extract was handled after extraction, such as whipped, left to set, or stirred and separated.

So "live resin wax" and "live resin shatter" share the same extraction and differ in how they were finished. For the extraction side in full, see Live rosin vs live resin.

Common concentrate texture words and how they usually look
Texture word How it usually looks Named in a Freezo concentrate listing
Wax Soft, opaque and waxy No
Crumble Dry and breaks into pieces No
Shatter Thin, glassy and translucent No
Badder or budder Smooth, thick and creamy, like whipped frosting No
Sugar Wet and grainy, like damp sugar No
Sauce and diamonds Crystal pieces sitting in a runny liquid No
Live rosin A solventless, fresh frozen extract Yes, mostly 2g jars

Wax and crumble

Wax is a concentrate that has been stirred or whipped while it sets, so it turns opaque and soft. Live resin wax is that texture made from a live resin extract.

Crumble sits on the drier end of the same family. It is usually set out or dried longer, so it breaks apart into small pieces instead of holding together. Live resin crumble is that drier texture made from a live resin extract.

Shatter

Shatter is a concentrate that is left to set without stirring, so it hardens into a thin, glassy, translucent sheet that can snap. Live resin shatter is that glassy form made from a live resin extract. Wax and shatter can come from the same kind of extract; the difference is whether it was agitated while it set.

Badder and budder

Badder, also spelled batter, and budder are names for a whipped concentrate with a smooth, thick, creamy texture. Brands use the spellings loosely, and a label that says badder and one that says budder usually describe the same kind of texture.

That answers the common search "live badder vs live resin". It is not a choice between two products. Live badder is live resin that has been whipped into a badder texture. Live resin is the extraction; badder is the finish.

Sugar

Sugar is a wet, grainy texture that looks like damp sugar. Live resin sugar is a live resin extract that has formed small crystals in its own liquid.

THCa sugar vs rosin is a comparison of a texture against an extraction. Sugar describes how a solvent extract looks. Rosin describes how an extract was made: without a solvent. A product can be rosin and still have its own texture, so read both words on the label.

Sauce and diamonds

Sauce is a runny concentrate. When it separates, larger crystal pieces settle out of the liquid. The crystal pieces are called diamonds, and the liquid around them is the sauce. Labels such as "sauce and diamonds" describe a jar that holds both.

Rosin textures

Rosin is an extract, not a texture. It is made without a solvent, and live rosin starts from fresh frozen plant material. Rosin can still be finished into its own textures, so the word on a rosin jar tells you about extraction first.

Freezo describes each of its concentrates in the same words: live rosin is a solventless, fresh frozen extract. Nine of the ten listings give a 2g size. Freezo's listings do not name a texture, so this page does not assign one to them.

Before you buy, open the Lab Results page. Check the product name, the product format and the lot or sample reference on the report against the packaging in hand. A matching product name on its own is not a match. A laboratory sample reference is not always the same number as the batch code printed on a package.

Freezo sells to adults 21 and older, and age is verified at checkout. Store buyers can see Wholesale live rosin for stores at Zigg Distro, or the Freezo wholesale page.
