510 cart vs disposable vape: how they differ

Updated October 2, 2026

A 510 thread cartridge is a filled tank that screws onto a separate battery, while a disposable vape is one sealed device with the extract and the battery built in. With a cart you supply the battery. With a disposable you use the device as it comes and replace the whole unit when it is empty.

Freezo sells disposables. Its range is nine 2g all-in-one devices: four filled with live rosin and five filled with live resin. Live rosin disposables are listed at $36 on October 2, 2026, and live resin disposables are listed at $34 on October 2, 2026.

This page explains what 510 means, how a cart and a battery pair, what an all-in-one disposable is, how vapes differ by extract, and how to match a product to its lab document.

What 510 thread means

510 is the name of a widely used screw thread connection for vape cartridges and batteries. A cartridge with a 510 connection threads onto any battery built with the same connection. That shared fitting is why people call these products 510 carts.

A 510 cart holds the extract and the mouthpiece. It has no power source of its own, so it does nothing until it is attached to a battery.

How a cart and battery work together

A cart setup has two parts that you buy separately and join by hand.

  1. The battery supplies the power and is kept and recharged between cartridges.
  2. The cartridge holds the extract and screws onto the battery at the 510 connection.
  3. When the cartridge is empty, you unscrew it and fit a new one to the same battery.

So the battery is a one time purchase, and the cartridge is the part you replace. That is the main practical difference between a regular cart setup and a disposable.

What a disposable (all-in-one) is

A disposable, often called an all-in-one or AIO, puts the extract and the battery in one sealed device. There is nothing to attach and nothing to screw on. You use it until it is empty, then replace the whole device.

Freezo's live resin listings describe each disposable as a convenient, all-in-one device filled with extract made from fresh or frozen plant material. Every Freezo disposable is a 2g device, and the listing title names the strain, the extract and whether Freezo lists it as indica, sativa or hybrid.

If you already own a 510 battery, a cart lets you keep using it. If you want a single device with nothing to pair, a disposable is the simpler format.

Types of vapes by extract: live rosin, live resin, distillate

Carts and disposables can hold different extracts, so the device format and the extract are two separate choices. Read the listing for both.

  • Live rosin: made from fresh-frozen plant material without a solvent. Freezo describes its live rosin disposable as filled with a solventless, freshly frozen concentrate.
  • Live resin: also made from fresh-frozen plant material, but extracted with a solvent. Freezo describes its live resin disposable as filled with extract made from fresh or frozen plant material.
  • Distillate: a different extract used in many standard carts. Freezo's own disposable listings compare their extract with standard distillate carts.

Lab reports and how to match a lot

Freezo publishes lab documents on its Lab Results page, which you can search by product name or recorded reference.

  1. Check the product name, the product format and the lot or sample reference on the report against the packaging in hand.
  2. A matching product name on its own is not a match. A disposable and a concentrate of the same strain are different formats.
  3. A laboratory sample reference is not always the same number as the batch code printed on a package.

A product with no report published here is not a product without a report, and a published report is not by itself proof that it covers the lot in hand. Ask the store when the two do not line up.
